Academic Project

VIDEO PRODUCTION

Option 1: The Bridge

The Bridge creates instructional media that is designed for an educational purpose. Please refer to our Bridge Project Types page for which type of media projects we support.

Option 2: University Communications

University Communications provides services for approved GVSU administration and academic requests for video and webcasting. Vice President approval is required. For the approval process form, visit: http://luvj.268297.com/ucomm/videorequest-video_request.htm

Option 3:  School of Communications

Because the School of Communications is an academic rather than a service unit, it accepts only a very limited number of client-based video production projects during the academic year.  The School receives many more requests than can be fit within the established curriculum.

Projects must fit within the academic mission of the School of Communications, and have clear and appropriate learning outcomes as determined by the faculty or Director.  Only a single class, CFV-470, Non-fiction Production, which is offered every fall semester, regularly accepts one or two client-based projects.  The clients are selected well in advance of fall semester. Clients are expected to be willing to meet with students as necessary throughout the planning and production process.  For more information, please contact Prof. Barbara Roos at 616.331.3465.  Other projects can be accepted only rarely, on a case-by-case basis. Acceptance will be determined by the appropriate faculty or their designee.  Projects with immediate deadlines will not be accepted.

Production-based independent studies or internships must be under the direct supervision of a faculty member who has expertise in the relevant technical aspects of the production, and students must have evidence of the necessary production skills to carry the work forward successfully.

For further information, contact Scott Vanderberg in the School of Communications at 616-331-3105.

Option 4:  The Promotions Video Team

The Promotions Video Team (part of the Student Life Office) works to produce a wide range of video content for the Grand Valley community. Our services include commercials, special event coverage, DVD duplication, and more! The team is composed of highly skilled Film/Video majors who have experience in various areas of production.
